Abstract:

 

Oracle tuning is a phenomenal challenge for any professional.  With over 250 parameters, and thousands of causes, identifying and correcting a performance problem can be extremely complex.

 

This presentation shares tuning secrets that have been accumulated over 20+ years as a database administrator consultant.  We will explore some of the most common causes of poor performance, look at “silver bullets” and show techniques for reducing disk I/O, tuning the SGA and tuning SQL statements. 

 

Fun, informative and entertaining, this presentation is indispensable for anyone who must ensure that their database is optimally configured   oracle training.

Bio

One of the world's leading database authors, Don is the author of 14 books on database management, and has authored more than 100 articles in national magazines. Don has worked with some of the worlds most sophisticated Oracle systems and is well versed in the most advanced Oracle tuning techniques, and has supported dozens of mission-critical systems for many clients, ranging from Fortune 50 companies to small proprietorships.

Dave Moore is a Product Architect with BMC Software in Austin, TX.  Dave is an ex-Oracle DBA and current Java and PL/SQL developer who designs products for Oracle Professionals worldwide.  He is a published author (Oracle Magazine, Oracle Professional, DBAZine.com) and has presented various Oracle technical topics at User Groups throughout the United States.
