Ace your Oracle Job Interview
If you are one of several hundred qualified job
applicants, what can you do to set yourself apart from the
competition? An expert hiring manager knows secrets for quickly
spotting fakers and “posers” and looks for important keywords in
your resume. They also employ special techniques to quickly access
your strengths and weaknesses.
You must also pass a tough telephone screening
before you even get a chance to come on-site for the real
interview. Learn from the manager what to expect and what managers
are looking for in a telephone interview.
The on-site interview is also challenging and
the interviewer will use tools to quickly access you demeanor,
technical skills and personality. Learn what unobtrusive questions
you might be asked, what the manager is “really” asking, and the
most appropriate response.
- Learn to “read between the lines” of innocent
job interview questions and write a bullet-proof resume
- Understand how to set yourself apart from the
competition
- Hear the questions asked during Oracle
telephone interviews
Brain Cramps: How simple mistakes can
cripple your database
It’s amazing how
simple unobtrusive mistakes can cripple your database. Oracle 10g
is the world most robust and flexible database and it’s not uncommon
to find inappropriate configurations that perform miserably. This
presentation will draw from real-world consulting experiences and
show actual examples of Oracle brain cramps and how to detect and
the most common Oracle performance issues.
This presentation
explores some of the root causes of Oracle performance bottlenecks
and offers specific advice for detecting and correcting sub-optimal
configurations. Drawn from real-word experiences with actual
examples, this presentation shows how simple mistakes in global
Oracle settings can have unforeseen side effects. Examples will
include sub-optimal initialization parameters, inappropriate
parameters for tables & indexes, SQL optimizer traps and external
issues such as disk and network configurations. This is a
do-not-miss session for anyone who wants to understand how small
changes can have a dramatic impact on Oracle performance. Key points
include:
- Understand common
disk problems
- Watch out for
those optimizer settings
- See legacy issues
with 10g upgrades
- See “Silly”
Oracle configurations
- See what happens
when you forget to take your DBA training
PL/SQL Tuning Secrets
PL/SQL is a robust and easy language, but it’s
easy to write sub-optimal code. This presentation will examine some
of the most common PL/SQL tuning errors and show how to write tight
efficient code. Topics will include array management techniques
(bulk collect and forall), compiled SQL and lots more.
